TAKE DEGREES AND RUN 2, 2024
Graphite, sanguine conte, oil pastel, coloured pencil, acrylic, gesso, spray paint, on styrofoam and plastic
This piece is a bit of a double entendre, navigating both the pressure I’ve felt to maximize the leverage that the Brown and RISD degrees will grant me post graduation, and the chronic imposter syndrome I’ve felt for much of my time attending these institutions. In my expressionistic style, I am very honest with my materials, not only with my applied media, but also with my grounds — letting the gray from the styrofoam and the blue from the plastic shine through as parts of the piece.
